Step-by-Step WiFi Connection

Prepare the Printer:

Switch on your printer. Ensure it is within 2 metres of your router for the initial setup. Ensure the wireless light is blinking.

WPS Setup (Fastest):

Press the Wireless button on your printer for 3 seconds. Go to your router and press the WPS button. Wait for the blue light to stay solid.

App Installation:

Open the HP Smart App on your phone. Click 'Add Printer'. The app will scan for your device and connect it to your home network automatically.

Connecting to a New WiFi Network

If you have changed your router or password, follow these steps to reset the memory:

The "Reset Network" Secret

For printers without a screen (DeskJet 2700): Press Wireless + Cancel together for 5 seconds. The power light will flash; this means the printer is now in "Setup Mode" and ready for the new WiFi password.

Step 1: Cleanup

Remove the old printer profile from your HP Smart App or Windows "Printers & Scanners" list.

Step 2: Re-link

Use the HP Smart App to "Add Printer" again. It will now ask for your NEW WiFi password.

Ink Installation & Refilling

DeskJet / ENVY / OfficeJet

  1. 1. Lift the ink access door (front or top depending on model).
  2. 2. Wait for the cartridge carriage to slide to the center.
  3. 3. Press down on the old cartridge to release it.
  4. 4. **IMPORTANT:** Pull the orange tab to remove the plastic tape from the new cartridge.
  5. 5. Slide the new one in at a slight upward angle until it clicks.

Smart Tank Series

  1. 1. Open the tank covers on the front of the printer.
  2. 2. Remove the cap from the tank you wish to fill.
  3. 3. Twist off the cap of the ink bottle (do not squeeze).
  4. 4. Place the bottle on the tank nozzle. The ink flows automatically.
  5. 5. Stop when ink reaches the "Max" line. Replace all caps tightly.

Loading Paper: Proper Alignment

DeskJet 2700 Series (Rear Loader)

  1. 1. Raise the paper input tray at the back.
  2. 2. Slide the paper-width guide to its far-left position.
  3. 3. Insert a stack of paper (max 60 sheets).
  4. 4. Slide the guide until it rests against the edge of the paper.

ENVY & OfficeJet (Front Tray)

  1. 1. Pull out the paper drawer from the bottom front.
  2. 2. Slide the width guides outward.
  3. 3. Place paper in the tray, print side DOWN.
  4. 4. Push the tray back in until it clicks.

Fixing "Printer Offline" Errors

Is your PC refusing to talk to the printer? Try these hpprinteruk pro tips:

  • The 30-30-30 Reset: Unplug the router, the printer, and restart the PC. Plug them back in after 30 seconds.
  • Windows Queue: Go to Control Panel > Devices > Right-click Printer > "See What's Printing" > Click "Printer" Tab > Uncheck "Use Printer Offline".
  • IP Check: Print a Network Configuration Page. If the IP starts with 169.x.x.x, your printer is not getting a signal from the router.
